About the role

We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Account Director to join our Communications team who provide PR, digital, sponsorship activation and experiential events for Clients, working with global brands such as The North Face, Lucozade Sport and New Balance. The role will involve managing key client relations, senior team responsibilities and new business tasks. You’ll take on responsibility for the overall management, direction and running of accounts (including financial growth), while steering and managing teams to deliver projects and activities to a high standard. You’ll act as consultants to clients, working closely with Directors to formulate client strategies and plans. 

Key Responsibilities include; 

  • Lead on comms Client Accounts across sport and entertainment, clients subject to change based on resourcing needs and new biz wins
  • Ensure all campaigns meet Client brief and deliver on strategy at a brand and commercial level
  • Lead and manage the Client teams on all relevant accounts
  • Responsible for meeting Mongoose Client revenue targets and organic growth set for relevant accounts
  • Be a trusted advisor for clients, taking briefs independently and guiding and challenging back when required
  • Build relationships beyond core client contacts to maximise new business opportunities
  • Formulate proposals and plans for clients that demonstrate strong strategic and creative thinking with minimal input from the senior team
  • Present and ‘sell’ plans and proposals to client teams with energy, confidence and conviction 
  • Develop project and programme budgets that are profitable and adhered to by account teams
  • Grow accounts through cost saving initiatives, streamlining and new business 
  • Maintain valuable contacts with key journalists and influencers
  • Ad hoc media relations with senior journalists and contacts to secure bigger pieces and partnerships
  • Lead by example and proactively look out for, monitor and update on opportunities for new and existing clients and brands 
  • Champion creativity with your teams, challenge and empower them to apply smart, creative, lateral thinking across everything they do, incl. idea generation, media relations, proposals and content development
  • Direct, manage, coach and inspire account teams to deliver outstanding service and results for clients within the agreed time frames and budgets
  • Support the senior team in the overall management of the team, being responsible for staff levels and making sure there is always appropriate client cover 
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of clients’ brands, their competitors and the sector / category and industry they operate in 
  • Actively seek out and recruit new business opportunities for the agency 
  • Get involved with new business proposal development and presentations as and when required

Ideal Characteristics

  • Substantial experience in the PR / comms and digital sphere, agency experience is essential
  • Lifestyle and consumer PR experience is essential
  • Understanding of sport and fitness in the consumer market 
  • An understanding of digital landscape and content development along with coverage experience across all channels inc. broadcast and digital 
  • Must have impeccable attention to detail and second to none interpersonal skills
  • Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; is constantly and consistently one of the top performers, steadfastly pushes self and others for results
  • Demonstrates business acumen and balances client handling with the growth of the Mongoose business, they should be a driven individual that wants to grow alongside the business
