Job Description

Overview

An Account Co-ordinator assists the account teams in the delivery of client campaigns and programmes, and get a first taste of life in a busy sports marketing agency. It’s a varied role which involves learning the ropes when it comes to digital marketing, event management, media relations, writing and creative thinking, as well as providing all-important reporting and admin support to teams. Reporting into the Account Executives and Managers, Account Co-ordinator get the chance to get involved with brand planning brainstorms and media events and, once they’re fully established in their roles, become client-facing too.

Main Responsibilities 

Project delivery

Support account teams in delivering client projects, campaigns and programmes, from manning a press office and helping deliver events to implementing high-profile, multi-channel campaigns 

Tasks and projects can include: researching target media for a particular campaign, researching spokespeople and celebrities, assisting in event management, venue research, researching and booking competition slots, sourcing products and props for shoots, mail-outs etc

Admin support & reporting

Prepare meeting agendas and contact reports

Develop client-facing results reports and update emails 

Be responsible for filing coverage and maintaining coverage trackers to ensure they all always accurate and up to date 

Conduct research for and contribute to new business proposals as and when required

Work with the team to maintain a tidy and orderly stock cupboard

Monitor stock levels and place orders when supplies run low

Monitor magazines and newspapers in the office, keeping things tidy and current

Keep teams updated on progress and results

Social media knowledge

Develop a good understanding of the social media landscape and new developments

Work with internal social media experts to develop and implement social media content calendars across key channels incl. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Snapchat, Pinterest

Implement basic social media community management with support from internal experts as and when required

Content development

Learn how to craft copy that’s engaging, compelling, persuasive, on message and on brand

Content can include: media releases, journalist pitch emails, digital content, opinion pieces, case study backgrounders and competition copy

Help manage the creation of compelling visual content e.g. imagery, videos, infographics etc 

Draft a minimum of six blog posts for the Mongoose website every year

Media relations

Learn how to implement ongoing proactive media relations through a mix of face to face meetings, emails, calls and Twitter

Start a personal ‘book of contacts’ full of key journalists and influencers

Be constantly on the look-out for opportunities, proactive and reactive, for clients and brands in media and social media 

Learn how to use media database Gorkana to create and maintain comprehensive media lists for each account

Develop an in-depth understanding of the UK media landscape incl. national, online, broadcast, bloggers, vloggers, social influencers

Brand & industry insight & understanding

Demonstrate understanding of clients’ brands and their competitors 

Help collate and research market sector information and investigate competitor information 

Keep teams and clients updated on key news and developments affecting clients and the sector(s) they operate in 

Take part in and actively contribute to team brainstorms across all team accounts
