Job Description


An Account Executive is at the forefront of busy account teams, delivering client campaigns and programmes to media and influencers for the best possible results. It’s a very varied role which involves a healthy dose of media relations, writing and creative thinking, together with reporting and admin. Reporting into the Account Managers, you will get involved with brand planning brainstorms, client meetings and media events. 

Main Responsibilities:

Media relations

Develop a personal ‘book of contacts’ full of key journalists and influencers

Ongoing proactive media relations through a mix of face to face meetings, emails, calls and social media

Be constantly on the look-out for opportunities, proactive and reactive, for clients and brands in media and social media 

Create and maintain comprehensive media lists for each account

Assist with product mail-outs

Develop an in-depth understanding of the UK media landscape incl. national, online, broadcast, bloggers, vloggers, social influencers

Project delivery

Work with account teams to deliver client projects, campaigns and programmes, from manning a press office and helping deliver events to implementing high-profile, multi-channel campaigns 

Tasks and projects can include: researching target media for a particular campaign, researching and booking spokespeople and celebrities, event management, venue research, researching and booking competition slots, sourcing products and props for shoots, mail-outs etc

Provide on-event support as directed by Account Managers. Can include co-ordinating logistics and third party suppliers, organising deliveries and managing attendee schedules etc.

Content development

Craft copy that’s engaging, compelling, persuasive, on message and brand

Content can include: media releases, journalist pitch emails, digital content, opinion pieces, case study backgrounders, feature articles, briefings materials, research reports, advertorial and competition copy

Manage the creation of compelling visual content e.g. imagery, videos, infographics etc 

Draft a minimum of six blog posts for the Mongoose website every year

Creative thinking

Apply smart, creative, lateral thinking across everything you do, incl. media relations and content development – always question how you can deliver even more engagement, more stand-out

Immerse yourself in industry news and happenings relevant to your clients, make sure you have your finger on the pulse and proactively share relevant ideas and insights with the wider team

Take part in and actively contribute to team brainstorms across all team accounts 

Aim to proactively contribute at least one creative idea to an account every week

Client liaison

Liaise with clients and support client teams as and when required

Develop relationships with relevant client team members

Help teams prepare for and attend client meetings as and when required

Demonstrate in-depth understanding of clients’ brands, their competitors and the sector / category and industry they operate in 

Read relevant trade and business media, research the business and industry, and attend relevant events to show insight and add value to clients

Admin support & reporting

File coverage and maintain coverage trackers to ensure they all always accurate and up to date 

Prepare meeting agendas and contact reports

Develop client-facing results reports and update emails 

Manage third party agencies e.g. media cuttings, evaluation, suppliers etc 

Conduct research for and contribute to new business proposals as and when required

Take minutes at meetings and circulate as and when required

Keep teams updated on progress and results

Personal Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have 1 year’s PR experience but more importantly will process the following traits.

Integrate with the wider team, take the initiative to get involved with agency activities such as social media channels, lunch’n’learns, social events etc
