In 2016 Mongoose was tasked with activating a summer campaign for Badminton England that inspired the modern day family to get outside and play badminton this Olympic summer.
Badminton is one of the most popular sports worldwide, but the summer campaign’s aim was to increase participation of badminton in England by encouraging people to take the sport outdoors – a brave and bold statement for a sport whose performance is tied to indoor courts.
We promoted ‘A Big Badminton Summer’ through media and influencers by hosting a media badminton lesson, coached by ex-England players. We also created a bespoke badminton mail out which was sent to media in a bid to inspire them to play outdoors and encourage social media sharing, resulting in social posts from the likes of Sport Magazine and The Guardian
We also amplified the success of badminton at the Rio 2016 Olympics by securing top six national media interviews and 12 pieces of coverage, putting badminton in the mainstream sport spotlight and ensuring that Badminton England’s key messaging was laced throughout each piece.
