National Fitness Day – #Fitness2Me with Mongoose

National Fitness Day – #Fitness2Me with Mongoose

Living in such a fast-paced world, especially with us gaining some sense of normality post-lockdown, it’s easy to forget the importance our health and our fitness. However, at Mongoose fitness and wellbeing is at the heart of our brand activations and despite being a busy sports PR and marketing agency, we still try to practise what we preach. That’s why we’re grateful for National Fitness Day. It reminds us as a team and a community the importance of fitness - what it does for both our physical and mental health, and what it means to us in terms of social interaction, freedom and adventure.

Working with an array of clients with different needs, and Mongoose consisting of a bunch of fitness fanatics, our workforce is a great example of how fitness impacts our lives differently. In honour of National Fitness Day’s #Fitness2Me campaign, the Mongoose team decided to explore what fitness means to us and our clients. From our sponsorship sales team to our digital creatives, fitness has impacted us all in different ways…

It is easy when in a working environment to forget how important the fundamentals of fitness are and how we can incorporate them into our busy day. Our Senior Account Director, Kirstyn overcomes this in many ways; “It’s the little bits of activity, here and there, throughout the day. Cycling to work, taking the stairs, or replacing my desk chair with an exercise ball. It all makes a remarkable difference when you add the little movements together”.

This value does not fall short in our work with our clients too. Our work with Digme Fitness is all about incorporating fitness into your daily lifestyle, which is why we partnered with them during lockdown and are now responsible for raising awareness of the Digme at Home brand; a platform that allows you to take fitness classes in the comfort of your own home or office.

Senior Account Manager Beki shares how fitness means freedom to her. “Over the last 18 months when I’ve been working from home, and seeing the same four walls every day, getting out for a run or cycle has really meant a lot. Being active gives us the freedom to explore and to see new places, and I’m looking forward to some more race-cations and adventure travel soon!”

Another prevalent benefit of fitness is the positive impact it can have on our mental health. Amelie, one of our Senior Account Directors sees exercise as “my me-time. I leave my phone and all the things I’m thinking about behind, and just focus on my workout. It’s an escape from stressing about everything on my to-do list - it’s just me and sometimes I need that!”

Now we’d be lying if we said our fitness journey has only ups. Like any relationship, on the occasion our relationship with fitness can become complicated. But there are always different approaches to overcome this. Catherine, our head of Brand Experience confessed that “I still kill myself setting impossible goals (for me anyway), but the mental challenge of trying to reach them, one step at a time, is the reward”.

To reap these rewards, in honour of National Fitness Day’s #Fitness2me campaign, the Mongoose team will be taking part in a Digme Fitness class at the studio in Moorgate. You can see what we got up to on our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/mongooseagency/. This National Fitness Day Digme are offering a range of free classes and will plant a tree for every person that joins them for a workout!
