OUR NEW DIRECTOR OF BRAND EXPERIENCE REVEALS WHAT SHE'S LOOKING TO BRING TO THE TEAM

Why did you want to work for Mongoose?

Health and wellbeing are of utmost importance now - and without sounding like I'm in a pageant, sport really does have the power for good, to make people not only healthier, but happier. Who wouldn't want to work in this space, especially at this time.

Tell us a bit more about your new role.

To drive more creativity and connectivity through experience, no matter what the platform. Mongoose has such great credentials in activation within Sport and Entertainment, we are now going to make it more personal, more immersive and more emotional.

What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on and why?

I've been lucky to work with a range of great clients from automotive to entertainment brands, lifestyle to fashion houses. I'd say rather than a favourite client it is a favourite attitude - those that work in partnership, are willing to experiment and push the boundaries and of course, have fun. I do love shoes though, so anything in this area is a no brainer.

How did it all begin, how did you get into marketing?

I have a natural curiosity in people and love to talk, so a communications degree which combined psychology, media and linguistics seemed to be spot on. From there it felt natural to move into marketing. I wrote directly to the CEO of Boots to get my first job as I had nothing to lose, then went on to work with a combination of brands and agencies, giving a good balance between commercialism and creativity.

Where do you get your news?

I find relying on one input gives you an echo chamber, so I go to a range of sources and particularly like to hear other people's opinions for a good debate. There is a great read called The Week, that wraps different perspectives and debates in a nice neat, easy to read package, which is perfect for an impatient person like me.

What do you like to do in spare time (when not in lockdown)?

I'm terrible at relaxing unless I am asleep, but I took up road biking initially for charity and totally fell in love with it. That said, I don't go nearly enough. I also love to travel and have some of my best memories - let's just say, the mafia, a terrifying Doberman called ice cream and free champagne being one - when I've gone off the beaten track.

Finally, what's your favourite sports team?

Can I have Team GB or is that too broad...I especially love athletics, but the kind of emotion and competition you see in the Olympics really does bring me to tears.
